Major industry bodies Equity, Time’s Up, and Jack Thorne’s Underlying Health Condition lobbying group have joined the Coalition for Change, the body seeking to improve working conditions in UK TV.

Key figures from major broadcasters, streaming services and unions in the British TV industry have joined forces to pledge to improve working practices for freelancers in across the sector in the UK.

The ongoing discussions around the working lives of U.K. TV freelancers have coalesced into The Freelance Charter, a historic document that was revealed at the Edinburgh TV Festival.

The Coalition for Change has recommended “training passports” for freelancers, suggested mandatory “training bundles” and called on broadcasters to push suppliers to train in “creating respectful environments”.
